All temporarily unused structures need conservation, which must be preserved during their forced inactivity. One of these facilities is an outdoor pool, which is actively used only in the summer. Before the onset of the first autumn frosts, an artificial reservoir should be mothballed. After all, the main danger to the structure lies in the movements of the soil adjacent to the walls of the outdoor pool bowl. To cope with this problem allows water, which is prepared in a special way and left in the outdoor pool for the winter. Before filling the reservoir bowl with water, the equipment is dismantled and plugs are installed. A team of professionals is called to perform the entire complex of works on the conservation of the facility. If desired, and if there is time, the owner of a country house can carry out all the necessary operations on his own. Let us consider in more detail the procedure for performing work and the features of their implementation.

First of all, we suggest you watch a video clip with an example of conservation work:

Before you start draining the pool of water used for summer bathing, you must remove the chemicals from the autochlorinator (disinfector dispenser tank). After that, the entire system is washed in the circulation mode for about 10-15 minutes. Then the "summer" water is drained from the bowl of the swimming pool.

The bottom and walls of the pool bowl are cleaned with a viscose sponge or a plastic brush with soft bristles from dirt and deposits, while detergents are actively used. When choosing cleaning agents for washing the bottom and walls of the bowl, they are guided by the advice of the manufacturer of the facing material. Preference is usually given to chemicals produced by German companies. Although many Russian products have good detergent and cleaning qualities.

Cleaning the bottom of the bowl of an outdoor swimming pool from pollution, carried out using special equipment or available tools

Special care must be taken when cleaning film coatings, which can be damaged as a result of the strongest exposure to chemicals of dubious quality.

Putting in order the bottom and walls of the bowl of the swimming pool, do not forget about cleaning from settled deposits of metal parts that are in direct contact with water. Here we are talking about stairs, handrails, spotlights and other auxiliary equipment used in the operation of the facility.

When working with any household chemicals, you should follow the well-known safety rules. Work should be carried out in overalls (rubber boots, gloves, water-repellent robe with a hood). It is advisable to protect the eyes and respiratory organs, using goggles and special masks for this. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions must not be allowed to leak into the environment.

Dismantling of removable equipment

All removable equipment for the period of "winter hibernation" of the pool is recommended to be removed and stored in a warm, dry room. The main elements of the hydraulic system of the structure are subject to dismantling: a filtering unit, a heating system, a counterflow device, etc. When starting to dismantle the filtration unit, the filter is de-energized. Then drain the water through the tap, open the lid and transfer the filtrate to another container. After that, the filter is thoroughly washed. Then the remaining liquid is drained by switching the valve to the emptying mode. The filtration unit is then placed in the selected storage location until the next summer season. Elements of the hydraulic system that cannot be dismantled must be freed from water.

Before filling the pool with water, remove all lighting fixtures built into the structure of the structure. At the same time, the protective glass is removed, the device is removed from the niche, the wire, having been insulated, is brought up and attached to the side of the pool. Styrofoam plugs close the recesses in which the lighting fixtures and the skimmer were located. The same plugs are also placed in nozzles that remain uncovered with water in the pool for the winter. The free ends of the drains are closed with special plugs.

Preservation of the filter system

Having finished cleaning the pool and dismantling the equipment, they begin to fill its bowl with water with preservative additives dissolved in it. As such an additive, a product called Puripul, which is produced by the German company BAYROL, is usually used. This drug prevents the appearance and development of algae, fungi, bacteria, silt deposits in unfrozen water. To carry out the procedure for preserving the filter system, the water level must be brought to its previous value. In accordance with the instructions supplied with the filter by the manufacturer, the backwash mode is set on the equipment. Do not switch the filter valve while the pump is running, as this may cause a breakdown of the system.

After the backwash is completed, the filter operation is switched to the compaction mode for 10-15 seconds, and then to the normal (normal) filtration mode. In this mode, conservation water is driven through the filter system for two to three hours. After this time has elapsed, the water from the pool is partially drained. Draining stops when the water level is 10 cm below the side nozzles.

Puripul contains quaternary ammonium compounds (less than 20%), so its addition to the pool water is strictly dosed. The dose depends on the level of water hardness, measured in degrees of hardness (°F) or in milligrams equivalent per liter (mg-eq / l).

  • If the hardness does not exceed 3.5 mg-eq / l, then for every 10 meters of cubic water, 0.4 liters of Puripula are added.
  • If water hardness reaches 5.3 mg-eq/l, then the dose of the drug used to preserve water in the pool increases to 0.6 liters.

Before adding "Puripul" must be diluted in water, while each part of the drug should account for 5 parts of water. The resulting solution is evenly distributed over the water surface of the pool and mixed with the bulk of the water. The effectiveness of the drug depends on the level of chlorine and algicide in the water. The decrease in the effectiveness of Puripul occurs when the concentration of chlorine in water is at the level of 1 mg / l. Knowing this, it is not necessary to increase the dose of chlorine and algaecide in the water during the reopening of the pool, which is carried out in the spring months. After all, "Puripul" greatly facilitates the cleaning of the pool after the end of the "winter hibernation".

Compensators: what are they and why are they needed?

To reduce the load from ice (frozen water) on the walls of the pool bowl, expansion joints are used. Compensators are called objects that can change their volume with increasing external pressure. In other words, these are objects that can contract when water expands when it freezes. Compensators include all empty plastic containers (canisters, five-liter drinking water bottles, etc.), as well as tires and pieces of foam.

Use of plastic bottles as water expansion joints when freezing during the conservation of the outdoor pool for the winter

Compensators are tied with a synthetic cord and placed along the center line of the swimming pool. At the same time, plastic containers must be buried a little, using sandbags or other weighting agents for this. It is not recommended to use metal objects as anchors, which can leave rust marks on the bottom of the pool bowl. In addition to the center of the reservoir, compensators are also installed on the sides. Here it is better to use foam bars, which should be tied into a “garland” and placed around the perimeter of the pool, stepping back from the sides by 8-10 cm.

The choice of coating to protect the water mirror

Protecting the water surface with a special coating is considered the last step in winterizing outdoor pools. This stage does not bring trouble to the owners of those structures that already use coatings to protect the pool water in the summer from pollution and cooling. True, only those covering materials that are able to withstand temperature extremes, as well as the severity of the snow mass, are suitable for year-round use.

Awning covers are made from tarpaulin, PVC film and other materials that can protect the water column from precipitation and other pollution.

Bubble blankets are inexpensive types of heat-insulating coatings that can accumulate solar energy. Covers are suitable for protecting the pond in winter

Automatic roller blinds for pools allow not only to protect the water surface from pollution, but to extend the swimming season, keeping the water temperature in the pool at a comfortable level

Plastic pavilions are among the expensive types of year-round protection for outdoor pools. These structures are made of rounded aluminum profiles and polycarbonate sheets that can retain heat inside the structure.

The operation of an open (stationary) pool in winter is possible using modern electric water heating systems in an artificial reservoir

It is not recommended to cover outdoor pools with homemade wooden shields and metal structures resting on the sides of the structure. There is a high probability of damage to the walls of the bowl and the body of the artificial reservoir.

When can you start reopening?

If you follow all the procedures for the conservation of a stationary pool correctly, then you can ensure a successful wintering for this structure. With the advent of warm days, the ice in the pool is allowed to melt in natural conditions. Breaking ice is strictly prohibited, as it is likely to damage the bowl of the structure. After the reactivation of the pool and water purification, they begin to operate the reservoir in accordance with its purpose.

Can I leave the frame pool for the winter? Do I need to disassemble and clean the frame pool for the winter? Details here.

After the end of the swimming season, many people have a question whether it is worth dismantling the frame pool or still leaving everything as it is. I really don’t want to deal with the annual assembly and disassembly of the structure, drain it, and especially since the film becomes unusable with constant folding, and it is so inconvenient to fold it.

Do I need to dismantle the frame pool for the winter? No, it's not necessary. Preservation is allowed for all-season prefabricated models with rigid sides, the metal bowl of which is made of frost-resistant materials. Frame pools of summer type. In order for him to safely pass the winter, you need to properly care for the bowl. In no case do not leave the container without water, frost will definitely deform the frame, and the film will become brittle and covered with microcracks. In addition, it is easier for rodents to climb into an empty pool and gnaw on the material. Moreover, a strong wind can also blow away the structure.

ADVICE!Pool conservation work should begin when the air temperature drops to 15 C.

We are not afraid to freeze correctly until spring

We leave the frame pool for the winter with water, just below the nozzles, and filter it for 2 hours so that the water does not bloom. But before pouring fresh water, the walls and bottom of the pool must be washed from mold and plaque. Hard alkaline properties and coarse metal brushes should not be used for cleaning. We connect plastic bottles with a load with each other so that they are evenly distributed over the pool and placed in the water. They will not allow the expanded ice to break the awning, but will shrink, taking the load on themselves.

Removing all equipment

  • filter,
  • pipes,
  • skimmer.

We wash and dry everything, remove all filter materials from the filter. We put all accessories in a dry room in boxes. We put plugs on all inlet and outlet openings. We cover the pool with a durable awning from precipitation and debris. Everything. Now you can leave the frame pool outside in winter.

In order to prepare the pool, you need to work hard physically and spend a single hour on it. But such a thing is not cheap and you can’t let everything go by itself. Any thing needs proper care. Having carried out all the above procedures, even a frame pool with a metal bowl will last a long time.

No spring mounting

Leaving the frame pool for the winter turned out to be not so scary and now you can safely leave for a city apartment until the next warm weather arrives. And upon arrival, in the warm season, such a pool will be easier. You just need to put in the equipment, connect the hoses, remove the plugs, add specialized preparations again and wait for the water to heat up. And no painful editing.

Preservation of the frame pool for the winter

Need to do:
  1. Preserve the pool until the first serious frost.
  2. Do not leave the outdoor pool empty for the winter.
  3. Thoroughly clean the bottom and walls of the pool before refilling with water.
  4. Remember that wall and bottom cleaners are usually quite aggressive chemicals, so the process must be carried out in compliance with safety regulations, work in rubber boots and gloves, and uncontrolled leakage of the solution into the environment must be avoided.
  5. Install compensators for the volume expansion of freezing water in the pool water before it freezes. As compensators, objects are used that can compress with an increase in external pressure and take on the load from the ice formed in the pool.

Owners of indoor heated pools indoors, there is no need to look anxiously at the calendar. But for those who have established their little seas in the open, there is something to worry about. In the conditions of central Russia, the swimming season in the outdoor pool does not last long. Happy owners who have built their outdoor pool before the start of summer often enjoy it without the gloomy thoughts that pretty soon the pool will turn into a capricious device that requires constant maintenance, otherwise the alternation of frost and thaw will quickly destroy an expensive structure.

In order to meet the next year in the arms of the clean water of your pool with full confidence that it will serve you for many more years, you should take measures for its conservation very seriously. The main rule is to have time to mothball the pool before the first serious frosts.

Experience in operating outdoor pools in Russia says that one hundred outdoor pool should not be left empty for the winter. The point is not only that under the ice the appearance of the lining of the bowl will be better preserved. The main danger is the change in the volume of the soil surrounding the pool when it freezes. Freezing and thawing soil in the immediate vicinity of the pool dramatically increases the load on the walls, which can lead to the destruction of the concrete and metal elements of the hull. Therefore, the presence of an ice massif inside the pool partially compensates for the mentioned loads.

The foregoing does not mean that conservation is carried out without draining the water that you have been using all summer. It is not worth freezing this water for the winter, even if it meets all the requirements for the main indicators of water for swimming pools. This water must be completely drained. Front By re-filling with water, the bottom and walls of the pool must be thoroughly cleaned. This is done in an empty pool using brushes and special cleaning products. Cleaning products are recommended to be used in full accordance with the nature of the internal coating of the pool. The company "World of Comfort" recommends that you use chemicals from the company " BAYROL" from Germany. Do not use unfamiliar drugs!

This is especially true for film coatings. Wall and bottom cleaners are usually quite harsh chemicals, so the process must be carried out in compliance with safety regulations, work in rubber boots and gloves, avoid uncontrolled leakage of the solution into the environment. A viscose sponge or a plastic brush with hard bristles is used as a tool. After cleaning, the entire inner surface of the pools is thoroughly rinsed, and then the remaining water is removed manually. At the same time, metal parts that are in contact with water are descaled (lamps for spotlights, stairs, handrails, etc.)

While the pool is empty, the lighting devices built into the walls are dismantled. The protective glass is removed, the device is removed from the niche, the wire is brought up over the side of the pool and carefully insulated.

Conservation water is filled initially to the previous level. When the bay is over, proceed to measures to preserve the filter system. The filter enters the backwash mode. In this case, the instructions for this process must be strictly observed, since, for example, switching the filter valve while the pump is running can cause system breakdowns. After the end of the backwash, the filter is put into compaction mode. Then - in the normal filtering mode.

At this time, a special preservative is added to the water " Puripul» by BAYROL, preventing the development of algae. It ensures the purity of the water in case the expected frosts are delayed. Conservation water with an anti-algae agent dissolved in it is filtered in the normal mode for two to three hours.

After that, part of the water from the pool is drained until the level drops 10 cm below the side nozzles.

The next step is installation expansion joints freezing water. As compensators, objects are used that can compress with increasing external pressure. These can be plastic canisters filled with air, slightly inflated car tires or foam bars. The compensators are sunk under the water of the pool with the help of weights in the form of sandbags tied to the compensators. The best option is to sink plastic canisters in the central part of the pool and place foam plates about 5 cm thick along the sides of the pool at a distance of 5-10 cm from the side. The foam is distributed evenly, and its total length in plan should not be less than half the perimeter of the pool. When tying loads, do not use metal wire. A strong synthetic twine works best.

After the installation of the compensation system for the volumetric expansion of water in the pool piping, all parts of the hydraulic system are dismantled - a counterflow device, a filtering unit, a heating system, etc. Parts of the hydraulic system that are not subject to removal are freed from water, and the free ends of the pipes are isolated with plugs. It is recommended to close the skimmer and triska (on the national team) swimming pool) with special plugs, for winter conservation " Water Pik. Styrofoam plugs are installed in the niches of lighting fixtures, in the niche of the skimmer and in nozzles located above the level of conservation water. The filter is disconnected from the hydraulic system. The water from the filter is drained, the sand is removed and transferred to another container or to a linen bag. The filter housing is cleaned of sand residues and removed for winter storage.

The last step is to close the water mirror. Best for this purpose are special coatings that are used all year round. In summer, they protect the pool from pollution and cooling at a time when the pool is not in use; in winter - serve as the last measure of conservation. If the top cover is initially intended to be used in winter, it must be adequately strong and able to withstand the weight of the snow cover. It is not recommended to use wooden shields and metal structures resting on the sides of the pool to cover the water surface. The purpose of conservation, we recall, is to minimize the mechanical stress on the hull structure during a long winter downtime. Ice in a freezing pool should be protected, in no case should it be crushed, as ice fragments can damage the internal coating of the pool. The reactivation of the pool is carried out after the ice finally melts itself in the spring.

If you do not want to do all of the above actions yourself, then you can use the services of a company that provides maintenance services for swimming pools. The list of services, as a rule, includes winter conservation and spring reactivation of outdoor pools.

Despite the relative compactness of frame structures, their assembly and disassembly is a complex and time-consuming process. You will also have to carry all the elements of the tank or bowl to the place of storage, while taking care that they are not affected by external influences. With the start of the new season, you will have to reassemble the product and make all connections. The owners ask if it is possible to leave the prefabricated frame pool for the winter? To save your own strength and time, conservation is allowed, but on condition that you have an all-season model.

The process will require a minimum investment. It can be completed in a short amount of time. This is true when you do not have time to completely disassemble the structure and pack all the components of the tank. If the pool is not frost-resistant, then conservation is carried out with a complete analysis of the structure. Subject to all the rules and recommendations, you will keep the product intact, and with the beginning of summer you can quickly re-preserve it with minimal effort. Almost all prefabricated models allow you to preserve the bowl. You will need special chemistry for the pool and other products, which will be discussed later.

Conservation is a must. Remember that bacteria or wild animals can get into the bowl in winter. The latter can test the plastic or elastic coating for strength with their teeth.

Preparation for conservation

There are general dismantling rules that are recommended to be followed.

The list of tips includes:

  • It is necessary to prepare for the storage of the pool in advance before the onset of frost or heavy rains. Be prepared that the preservation process can take up to 2-3 days.
  • Choose your bowl or tank wall cleaning chemicals carefully if you plan to use them. They must not damage the film, plastic or metal parts in the pool structure.
  • Prepare rags, bedding, awnings and auxiliary tools (cleaning brushes and rags, which will come in handy for cleaning hard-to-reach places).

Also make sure that you have enough free space and the ability to freely drain the water into the sewer or into the ground, if it is safe to do so.

For large models, the transportation of which is problematic even over short distances, it is allowed to cover all components with a dense plastic film and press it with bricks. If available, use special awnings. These measures will be enough to protect against heaving of the soil and the pressure of frozen water.

Many are interested in where to store the frame pool in winter, including plastic structural elements. Plastic under the influence of frost becomes extremely fragile. It is recommended to hang the parts in a room with positive temperature.

If the living space is unusable, store in the following locations:

  • shed or attic at home;
  • basement garage;
  • workshop;
  • summer cuisine.

Be sure to make sure that the parts of the prefabricated pool do not interfere with the passage, are carefully wrapped in a protective film, and no heavy objects can fall on them. After the onset of frost, do not move the elements to exclude the possibility of damage. Carry out depreservation only after positive temperature is established.

If you have a frost-resistant model, you don’t have to worry about where to store the frame pool in winter. All-weather reservoirs do not need to be dismantled, but winter storage should be carried out according to certain rules.

For a seasonal pool

The preservation instructions include the following steps:

  1. Remove all removable equipment (ladders, filters, pumps, etc.). Beforehand, do not forget to de-energize the devices to prevent electric shocks.
  2. Drain the water through the drain hole. In parallel with the drain, it is recommended to start cleaning the walls from dirt and plaque. Some users add detergents to the pool bowl before draining the water, and then start cleaning. In this case, of course, it is recommended to drain into the sewer (water with chemicals is dangerous for the soil).
  3. Thoroughly clean the plastic elements from silt deposits. Use a stiff, plastic bristled brush to avoid scratching the film.
  4. After completely removing the water, disassemble the tank into its components. Remove drops and drips of water from all surfaces. If the structure is not dried well enough, mold or fungus may form.
  5. Pack the parts tightly with protective film. Tight packaging minimizes the chance of damage to the frame and simplifies transport to storage.

For ease of folding, it is recommended to give the shape of a square to the canvas. Then wind approximately 10-20 percent of the web on each side. You can hide the parts in a protective cover that will prevent moisture from entering.

How to disassemble the frame, you can learn from the official instructions that often come with the pool. Do not lose the mounting elements, otherwise it will be impossible to put everything back together.

Storage of frost-resistant products

Some Intex frame pools and products from other brands are impossible or difficult to disassemble.

Then you should apply the following method for canning for the winter:

  1. Perform all actions before the onset of frost at positive temperatures in dry weather.
  2. Clean the built-in autochlorinator from the disinfectant dispenser.
  3. Start flushing the system for 25-30 minutes in circulation mode, if the functionality allows it.
  4. Drain the water completely and then use rags and brushes to remove any dirt. Do not forget to thoroughly clean other elements of the pool (handrails, stairs, lights).
  5. Drain any component of the hydraulic system that will not be removed from water.
  6. Remove lamps, protective glasses, isolate the wiring. Place sealing plugs, such as foam plugs, in places where electronic components are installed.
  7. Fill the pool with water. The use of preservatives such as Puripul from BAYROL or similar will be required. They will prevent the development of bacteria. The composition is diluted in proportions of 1 to 5. More details can be found in the instructions.

The final step, which requires separate consideration, is the installation of expansion joints. Freezing water will change volumes. These deformations can damage the tank structure. You can compensate for such changes with the help of empty plastic bottles (after tying them into a single chain), polystyrene or car tires. They are completely or partially dipped in water. It is the expansion joints that are deformed, preventing the appearance of cracks and breaks in the bowl.

The water level is set at a mark below the side nozzles by 10-12 centimeters. Additional protection for the winter will be an awning, which is recommended to cover the entire surface. At the same time, the awning itself must withstand temperature changes without problems. Do not use homemade decks made of wood or metal. Such structures, when installed on the side walls, can destroy them, which will cause water spills. As soon as the winter passes, you should wait for the ice to thaw. Do not use physical force to break the ice blocks, as this may damage the pool bowl.

These are the main recommendations for the conservation of frost-resistant pools. With sufficient skill, all points can be completed within one day. We recommend storing the pools together with assistants. This will speed up all actions several times.

After the end of the swimming season, the question is: “Should I drain the water from the pool or preserve it?” It all depends on the type of your pool and desire. In addition, it is not always possible to drain a large amount of water in a small area. Should I drain the water from the pool for the winter?

Experts advise not to leave an empty pool for the winter. Find out why in our article. If you decide not to clean the collapsible pool or your bowl is stationary, then you should think about conservation. Do not leave the pool empty in the cold. The coating will definitely become unusable, whether it be a film or a tile. The easiest way out is to mothball the pool until the new swimming season.

The conservation of the pool should be done before the first frost (up to 0 degrees).

Unfortunately, . Low temperatures make the material brittle and ruin the structure. Inflatable and frame pools are completely drained, washed, and cleaned in a warm, dry place, along with the equipment.

Preserve the frame pool

If it has a metal semi-recessed base covered with PVC film. But when buying a frame pool, check with the seller about the frost resistance of PVC.

ADVICE!Do not unnecessarily open the mothballed pool. It is better to open it when the snow has completely melted. Ideally, re-preservation is done immediately at the beginning of the bathing season, otherwise the water has time to “bloom”.

What you need to know when conserving pools for the winter

Newbies are wondering how to keep the pool in the winter without draining the water. Actually it's not difficult. You can go two ways:

  • In the first case, you drain the water, wash the pool bowl completely, pour fresh water. Immerse five-liter containers into the pool capacity, half filled with sand. When the water turns to ice, the eggplants will shrink, removing the load from the walls of the pool.
  • In the second case, do not drain the water, but leave the old one. And by the same principle, throw plastic canisters filled with sand. And in the spring, drain the water, wash the bowl and pour fresh water. This is a more rational approach. Since the water will definitely bloom before the onset of cold weather. Moreover, the old water is already chemically purified and does not require additional processing costs. It will be a shame to do double work with the onset of heat.
  • The water level should not be higher than the level of the buried soil. This will help to evenly distribute the load on the walls of the pool, both from the inside with ice and from the outside with soil. If the pool is left full, the expanded water will tear the pool walls apart. Even a reinforced concrete bowl will crack.
  • Drain nozzles must not be submerged in water.
  • The equipment is removed for the winter. Excess liquid is drained from all taps and pipes.
  • If the pool is indoors, it can be drained and left dry.
  • Outdoor pools must be covered with awnings. So the bowl can be protected from excess debris and precipitation.

It is not necessary in a stationary concrete pool either. It calmly withstands extremes of low temperatures, if properly preserved. In addition, the frozen water helps the pool bowl keep its shape. And the mirror of the in-depth pool can be used as a skating rink in winter.

Any pool, whether it has been mothballed or not, should be inspected after wintering. And if necessary, and restored.

  • Inspect facing material for damage.
  • If there are any. Then for frame and inflatable pools there are special repair kits. They can patch holes and cracks. And if it is tiled, then if necessary, remove the tile, restore the concrete coating and lay a new tile. If the pool is old, then you can lay a new film coating, even on top of the tiles.
  • View equipment for breakdowns.
