The loft-style interior is associated with free light studios somewhere in New York. But many of us still want to transfer this atmosphere to domestic houses and apartments. It turns out that this is not only possible, but also very easy to do. And for this you do not need to move either to America or to an abandoned building. How to recreate the atmosphere of a loft style will be discussed in this article.

History of occurrence

The loft style appeared relatively recently, but immediately gained popularity among creative youth. For the first time this direction appeared in America around the middle of the last century. Young people did not have enough money to rent expensive apartments, so they had to rent cheap industrial or warehouse premises that landlords adapted for housing.

Naturally, such apartments did not look much like cozy apartments. country houses.

Instead of pretty floral wallpaper, there were bare brick walls or thinly plastered walls. Often there was a "decor" in the form of rusty metal pipes or chandeliers on long chains.

And the usual furniture had to be replaced with drawers or a simple table turned into a multifunctional thing, in which you could also store half of your belongings at the same time.

But, despite all these minor flaws, the loft style was appreciated and loved.

The spacious rooms provided a blank canvas for young artists and designers, and large windows provided plenty of light.

In addition, being in such apartments, one could feel like a part of the modern world, in which everything changes and develops.

Over time, the problem with housing was solved, but the loft style was not forgotten, only slightly ennobled. In addition, it has spread beyond America. Now loft-style apartments are found all over the world. True, it is worth noting that a small room with small windows is unlikely to look exactly the same as a real studio in Brooklyn. But at the same time, you can bring the atmosphere of this rebellious style into your home.

Character traits

Many call the loft style truly masculine. The fact is that we associate it with apartments in which lonely brutal men live, and they do not have enough time and desire to do interior design. That is why loft-style apartments and studios remain half-empty and decorated in such a casual style.

In fact, the loft is a style for everyone. But such features as minimalism in design, brutality and deliberate abandonment are still present in it.

This direction in the world of design allows you to significantly save on finishing materials. An apartment decorated in this style can look stylish and be considered very luxurious, despite the fact that interior partitions not decorated with plaster, and the walls show everyone who enters each of their bricks. The absence of wall coverings only decorates such a room.

By the way, you can save time not only on wall decoration with wallpaper, but also on wiring.

Surprisingly, in this modern style, even wiring can become part of the decor. The main thing is to protect yourself, especially if you have animals or children at home.

The second characteristic feature of the loft style after naturalness is minimalism. When you enter such a room, you immediately feel freedom. Even a small room seems more spacious if you do not litter it with unnecessary things out of habit. The loft style provides just such an approach - you select only what you really need for existence, and take the rest out of the house.

In a properly designed room, nothing prevents you from moving freely, and if you wish, even playing sports or dancing. You put only the necessary cabinets, sofas or beds, and hide all the decorative little things and important household items in drawers or cabinets.

As a decor in a loft-style apartment, not only a selection of figurines, a stack of books or a collection of soft toys can be used. Designers are actively promoting all sorts of details of modern industrial culture as decorations. You can hang a guitar or a bicycle on the wall, and the door can be decorated with a sign with an interesting inscription, like in the nearest cafe. Loft style is a design direction that suits modern creative people who live without stereotypes.

To decorate an apartment in this style, it is recommended to use only natural materials. It is best if it is brick, red or white, unplastered, natural wood or plain concrete.

From artificial materials, you should pay attention to metal and glass. But cheap plastic is better to avoid.

Repair in the apartment begins with the design of the floor, ceiling and walls. The walls can be left brick or, conversely, pasted over with wallpaper stylized as brickwork if you are doing repairs in a simple Khrushchev. Wooden or metal windows look best. window frames. As for the floor, there are two most common options here: you can leave the floor concrete or cover it with quality wooden parquet.

The ceiling can also be left bare or just whitewashed. The second option is suitable for apartments with low ceilings. The point is that it is White color helps to lift the walls, making the room seem larger, higher and more spacious.

To stylize an apartment as a modern American studio, many people tear down some walls and combine several rooms together. Dividing a room into several zones will help you with simple glass partitions or simply dividing the space with furniture or flowers.

Colors and their combinations in the interior

An important role in the interior is played by the right colors. The same industrial mood, which is so important for this direction, helps to convey the gray color. It has many different shades. All of them can be used in interior design. From light gray to slate or wet asphalt.

The second most popular color is white. The point here is that any room decorated in light colors seems visually larger and lighter to us. This is exactly what is required from modern loft-style rooms. Everyone is popular along with white light colors: coffee, beige, milk and so on.

Also, do not forget about those colors that correspond to the materials used - wood brown, terracotta or coffee. All of them are perfectly combined with each other and create the right atmosphere.

Choosing lamps

Like the use of light colors, the right lighting allows you to visually expand the space. In a loft-style apartment or room, there should be light at any time of the day, and not only when daylight enters the room. To do this, you need to choose right amount fixtures and position them correctly.

In most interiors, the focus is on a massive ceiling chandelier in the center of the room. Immediately, such chandeliers should be avoided or supplemented with spotlights, sconces or floor lamps.

As far as appearance goes, fixtures shouldn't be too flashy. Graceful crystal chandeliers and bronze candlesticks are best left to lovers of the classics and rococo. For the loft style, simple forms and the use of rough materials - metal, wood, and so on - are more relevant. Luminaires can resemble industrial parts - some diode strips, chandeliers on chains that are found only in factories, or something similar.

Lamps will also help you properly zoning the space.

For example, in the center of the room you can place a small ceiling chandelier in a laconic metal ceiling, and place a table lamp next to the bed, on a nightstand or table.

To highlight wall accessories or some other small decor items, simple diode lamps will help you. There can be any number of such spotlights - it all depends on your wishes and the size of the room.

What furniture to choose?

The choice of furniture for a loft-style apartment also plays a very important role. In fact, the choice is small - all things must definitely correspond to one given topic and be combined with each other.

In such rooms you need to do with a minimum number of things. For example, in the living room, it will be enough for you to install a sofa and a couple of bean bags, complementing the composition with a wall-mounted TV or music system. And in the bedroom there will be enough bed and a comfortable closet to store all your things.

Designers are advised to pay attention to transforming furniture.

Folding sofa, a folding tabletop instead of a full-fledged table, comfortable folding chairs and other practical developments of modern designers will save you a lot of free space. And bean bags or air mattresses can always be removed if necessary. There are a huge number of such ideas now, you can look at them and pick up something suitable.

In addition, in the loft style there is a place for all sorts of unusual interior details that are not found in simple houses. For example, part of the living room in this style can be used as a creative workshop or a place to relax in large companies.

In the second case, you will need a bar counter. This element is often found in modern loft-style apartments. With the right design of the rack, it can be turned into a real mini-bar with a place to store alcohol. The rack can be wood or metal, and its height and width depends on what room you put it in and how much space you can allocate for it.

You can also safely bring into the house everything for your hobbies. Even if you just love cycling or playing the cello in your spare time. All these things can be safely hung on the wall or placed under it.

Important design details

Properly selected details will also help to convey the atmosphere of creativity and love of freedom. Decor can be purchased not only in large stores like Ikea, but also at a flea market or even do it yourself.

Stylish pillows, soft blankets and other textile products will suit you. They can be bright accents in modern apartment. Also, many will like fresh flowers in simple wooden pots. They can be installed on window sills in the kitchen, next to sofas or on bedside tables.

Also in the modern interior there is a place for signs, road signs and other details. You can buy a real sign or order a special photo print with the image or phrase you need.

Ideas for decorating rooms

Even if you follow all the tips, you will not be able to fully convey the atmosphere of the loft style. But still, your apartment or room will be transformed.

If you want to change appearance one or more rooms, you can try to create a project yourself or order it from professionals. In the second case, you can be sure that everything will be done for your apartment.

So, for example, if you have a two-level apartment or just a room with high ceilings, then you will need comfortable stairs under the walls. They can be used both for their intended purpose and as a decorative element.

If you have a fairly spacious three-room apartment, but you do not use all these rooms, then you can combine two of the rooms into one. This process is best left to professionals, especially if you are dealing with bearing walls. Two rooms connected together can be used as a living room or a place to meet friends.

But the owners of small apartments measuring 50 square meters. m quite different problems. Typical room of 55 sq. m, on the contrary, must be divided into zones. This is done either so that several people can live in one room, or so that the second part of the room can be used for work or more active recreation.

Even in small one-room apartment you can live in comfort. For example, you can connect the kitchen to the main room, and separate the sleeping area with a partition. A glass partition or wooden screen will give you a cozy feeling and help you relax properly. And the kitchen and the rest of the room can be used for arranging a dining room and a place for cooking.

Examples in the interior

To understand how to recreate the loft style in an ordinary apartment, just look at the photos of the real rooms that the designers have worked on. Let's look at the main rooms that are found in apartments, and examples of their stylization in the direction of the loft.

Living room

Most designers argue that a loft-style apartment should not be divided into many separate rooms. It is worth isolating only the kitchen and the bathroom, and it is recommended to connect the rest of the premises with the help of arches.

To design the perfect loft-style living room, you only need one sofa. It is he who will be the center of your interior and the background, under which the rest of the details are selected.

Sofas with high-quality leather upholstery look best. You can complement it with bright colored pillows or a blanket in the form of an animal skin, for example. To make it convenient for you to store all your things, use hanging shelves or small cabinets.

The loft originated in the first half of the last century in the industrial districts of New York, when skyrocketing land prices in the city center forced business executives to move their production outside of it.

Manufactory buildings, warehouses, factory workshops were empty, and enterprising businessmen quickly realized that all this could become elite real estate for bohemians - high ceilings, unusual layout, good lighting and low rent comparable to conventional apartments. It was only necessary to show imagination and put a little effort into finishing.

Loft interior style is now the most fashionable and sought-after direction.

And so, having gone from an industrial workshop to a fashionable home, the loft-style room was at the peak of popularity in America and around the world.

An amazing feature of the loft is that it looks awkward in other styles (brick ledges, simply plastered walls, rough plank floors, etc.), here it gives an amazing charm. Who would have thought that ordinary road signs would look wonderful in the overall interior, which seems to have come down from the pages of a fashionable glossy magazine.

The loft is a real space for a flight of fancy

  • industrialism - brick or stonework, plastered or not, perhaps just whitewashed - is a key design feature;
  • division into zones using color contrasts, screens, play of light or glass partitions, provided that they do not violate the core concept - open space;
  • high ceilings of necessarily light shades and huge windows are necessary for a loft - the more light, the better;
  • furniture plays a significant role, especially when arranging a modern small apartment in a loft style: in addition to storing things, it serves as a zoning;

  • a generalization of the old and the new, which should be harmoniously combined, for example, when furnishing, a combination of antiques with minimalist style items (an old chest of drawers with legs and a chrome slide or cabinet) is welcome;
  • the use of natural materials - metal, burlap, leather, wood;
  • original and unexpected accessories: posters, graffiti, posters. That is, everything related to street art is appropriate in modern loft even a small room.

We can say that the loft is not just a style direction, it is a way of life of free people, not chained by the chains of everyday life, thinking outside the box, loving the light and space.

Let's take a look at the collection beautiful photos: interiors in loft style.

Loft-style teen room: 5 steps to originality

Loft in the interior is not only an adult style. He "with a bang" is crushed by boys and girls, teenagers and kids. A loft-style children's room is the choice of modern parents, and you need very little to please your child.

We think over the finish

Everything is simple here - it is desirable to paint the walls of the nursery, cover the floor with a specially aged parquet or floor board, whitewash the ceiling and, if possible, decorate it with decorative pipes or beams.

Choosing colors

The usual colors for a loft are all shades of gray, brick, terracotta, white, beige. Pastel colors are acceptable if the room is small. They create the appearance of a large space.

Attention! But there are some nuances for kids - the design of a room for a teenage boy is distinguished by the predominance of gray, brown, blue, black, dark green and red tones, which are relevant for boys of all ages.

Needed for a girl's bedroom gentle colors, here you already need to combine paints taking into account age. Win-win options - all shades of red, turquoise and yellow, bright crimson and pink.

But in any case, for the loft style in the interior of a small nursery, you need a colorful warm palette. And do not forget about the decor - curtains, toys, bedding, etc.

Pink is the perfect color for a girl's bedroom.

Create lighting

To illuminate a teenage loft, lamps of industrial design, classic or minimalist style are suitable. These can be pendant light bulbs, metal lamps with fans, chandeliers with a small amount of crystal pendants, placed on metal chains or braided ropes.

Consider local lighting for the nursery - cast-iron sconces, futuristic floor lamps or table lamps with fabric shades. Luminous letters, arrows, stars with spotlights will also make a light accent.

Installing the bed

Since the bed is the main place in the bedroom, it must match the chosen interior. For a boy, a bed can be made of metal pipes - an ideal arrangement, a real factory loft of the distant past.

A bed for a teenage girl can also be metal, with forging elements, and rich colors of bed linen will add comfort to the little princess's room.

If in a family two children share one nursery, then good option there will be a bunk bed, which will save space and create the illusion of having a mezzanine, which was often done in real lofts.

On a note! The choice is huge, but pay more attention to models with built-in cabinets, drawers for storing things that our children love to scatter everywhere. Then the room will be in order.

Decorate the room and decorate

It is necessary to build on the gender of the child, his age, character and hobbies. A room for boys in a loft style (photos of children can be viewed in our gallery) is decorated with images of idols, superheroes, retro cars, road signs, stained glass signs and even a real bicycle.

Car tires and wheels (you don’t have to smile, they drag it into the house too) with the ingenuity of parents will become comfortable seats, a good touch to games with friends. And for storing toys, you can adapt wooden boxes or old chests.

The loft for girls is felt panels and a beautiful mirror in a bronze frame. Fur rugs, multi-colored pillows, all kinds of lanterns, dried flower arrangements and much more. Some of these crafts girls can do themselves.

Loft-style teen room: creating a relaxation area

Let's talk about the play corner, which is no less important in the loft than the rest of the details - lighting, furniture, cladding. A hanging swing, a toy fireplace, a wigwam will look good. A climbing wall and a basketball hoop, painting easels, toy cars and other attributes so dear to a child's heart.

If possible, it would be nice to equip a place for reading by putting a pear chair, low colorful ottomans or a hanging rocking chair there. You can do it easier - scatter pillows on the carpet to the delight of the kids.

Loft-style room design: eclecticism with great possibilities

The main doctrine of the loft is a mixture of styles, but under one motto: a minimum of partitions, a maximum of freedom.

Loft is a mixture of different styles

An apartment in this direction, or a loft-style room in an ordinary apartment, which is more common, is distinguished by simple furniture, restrained tones, large windows and an almost complete lack of decor (as an exception, the design of a nursery).

In addition, the loft managed to embrace the immensity. To combine obvious opposites, which, it would seem, have absolutely nothing to do together. For example, uncovered ventilation pipes, and next to it are metal and mirrors, a panoramic window and newfangled appliances against the background of old brickwork, a bicycle on the wall and various factory devices.

Of course, this style is not suitable for everyone, but:

  • economical people, since the design of the loft room allows you to have original housing with minimal expenses;
  • creative, who have the opportunity to turn their most daring ideas into reality;
  • freedom-loving with a great desire not to go unnoticed - this is mostly the younger generation, guys and outrageous girls who have an extraordinary craving for everything unusual, it is she who will help them equip impressive loft-style housing even in an ordinary apartment;
  • owners of a large living space who do not want to clutter it up and, against the backdrop of comfort, crave space so that there is where to roam.

Most often, this design direction is chosen by young people. And no wonder - they want to live independently without the care of relatives, they have little money, they do not like cramped conditions, but prefer comfort. Therefore, this design decision is clear to them. Loft for them is style and reasonable economy.

For young man loft room without any frills. You can even refuse plaster, primer and putty, do not hide the wiring, but make it a decoration (of course, with the help of an electrician, if you don’t know what zero is and what phase is). You can use inexpensive wallpaper that imitates brick or stone, carved panels that supposedly darkened over time, beams. Decorate according to your preferences, without forgetting the main concept of the loft.

A room for a girl in a loft style involves a lot of white (in particular, white brick for lining the living room), various textured materials, wooden coverings. From the decor - paintings, French hat lamps. But also nothing more.

On a note! In true lofts, there is almost always a bar counter.

Nothing prevents you from arranging it even in the smallest apartment, decorated in a loft design. It will separate the kitchen and living room. Behind it you can just sit with friends or cook dinner. And how appropriate it will be for parties in the spirit of New York, where many do not even know each other, but everyone has so much fun.

You can talk about the loft endlessly. Despite his venerable age, he is full of fresh ideas. The loft style is suitable for interior design of any premises (see a photo of a magnificent loft here): whether it is fashionable villas, country houses, luxury hotels, boarding houses, apartments or one small room.

Don't be afraid to experiment. With a loft, any room will look balanced, stylish and modern.

The loft style, which originated in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century, remains popular today thanks to non-standard and original features, interiors with a touch of democracy, brutality and secular gloss at the same time. Interior design in the loft style can be safely called modern and fashionable, despite the fact that a whole century has passed since its inception. During this time, the loft design has undergone various modifications, but the main message - the desire for open spaces, industrial style - has remained the same. In a modern typical apartment with a regular ceiling height and small windows, loft style features can be added using various ways: brickwork, wooden and untreated surfaces, housing remodeling.

Brickwork in the loft space of the living room

In the photo: Living room interior with a wicker chair from the portfolio

In loft-style interiors, various wicker furniture, brickwork, as well as objects with the effect of “raw wood” will organically look. With the help of such elements, you can easily create a cozy and relaxed atmosphere of a country house.

Unplastered concrete surfaces

In the photo: Living room interior in the style of a brutal loft

The more surfaces left "raw" - the better. Wall sections with masonry may be interspersed with concrete surfaces. With the help of posters with inscriptions or drawings and special accessories, comfort and a special mood are created in the room.

Interior for creative bohemia

In the photo: Interior of a living room with a hookah in dark colors with country and loft elements

At one time, the loft was extremely popular with creative bohemia: artists, artists, decorators ... After all, large windows and high ceilings, originally characteristic of these interiors, invariably attracted artists and people of other creative professions. Over time, loft prices have risen significantly, and this type of housing has become affordable for a few.

Loft as a lifestyle

In the photo: Interior of a musical living room in a loft style

Today, the loft style is also preferred by many creative people. To bring the charm of a loft into your apartment, decorate the wall in the living room with brickwork, hang stylish black and white posters and unusual lamps. Add some vintage accessories or furniture.

bright days

In the photo: Loft-style kitchen-living room interior in bright colors

To give the interior good mood, it is not enough to decorate it in light and bright colors. A professional designer will be able to correctly select colorsbased on the laws of combination of colors and shades.

Communications in plain sight

In the photo: Open communications in the interior

Modern interiors in the loft style are characterized by the desire to reproduce the very atmosphere that reigned in the loft spaces of the early 20s of the last century. Open communications, chrome-plated air ducts left “in plain sight” are bright signs of style.

Loft and high-tech

In the photo: Loft-style living room interior

Loft is combined with other modern styles. In particular, the elements of hi-tech, constructivism and avant-garde - most organically fit into the style of the loft.

Small living room in loft style

In the photo: Loft-style living room interior

The interior of a small loft-style living room will be decorated with a stylish black and white photo or poster. With the help of wall images, you can set the right mood for the interior: in the case of photography, especially in retro style, the look of the room will turn out to be vintage and a little romantic, and the poster will give the interior a more modern and youthful look.

Wooden beams and caissons

In the photo: Loft-style living room interior with coffered ceilings

Wooden beams, all kinds of ceilings are welcome in the design of a loft-style living room. Coffered ceilings with spotlights, rough brickwork with black and white posters - this living room is ideal for watching modern films.

A haven for musicians and moviegoers

Light brick walls, a movie projector, a drum kit in the corner - the mini-living room has been turned into a real refuge for a musician, where there is everything you need and you can stay in solitude.

Posters in the dining area

The dining area in the kitchen is brought to life with black and white posters that create the feel of an outdoor cafe. Thanks to this technique, even a small kitchen looks stylish and original.

Floor mirror in the hallway

In the photo: Hallway with a loft-style floor mirror

A large floor mirror leaning against the wall is a feature of the loft-style hallway design. It reminds of the times when most of the items in the loft interior were hand made. "In place" of the mirror can be panels, posters, paintings and paintings, symbolizing a small "creative mess".

Small brick kitchen

In the photo: Interior of a small kitchen with loft style elements

In this small kitchen in a typical apartment, brickwork is played twice: tiles with imitation of masonry are used in the backsplash area, and on the walls there is a characteristic finish in its “classic” version.

Black and white monochrome & brickwork

In the photo: Loft-style hallway interior from the portfolio

Interiors look especially stylish, in which terracotta brickwork is adjacent to black and white monochrome. A black and white tiled floor, a minimum of furniture, a large mirror and brick walls - such an interior will look stylish and modern for a long time.

Design of children's rooms and office in loft style

In this project, all interior items are designed in a minimalist style - even a round clock above the bed, creating a subtle reference to art deco. A minimalist wardrobe with a mirrored door visually expands the space.

Vintage and classic

In the photo: Loft-style bedroom with vintage furniture

Vintage and classic elements are combined in the interior of the bedroom with loft features. Loft masonry is perfectly adjacent to the boudoir console table on curved legs.

Concrete walls and plain textiles

In the photo: Loft-style bedroom with concrete walls

Another, less popular technique for creating a loft-style interior is concrete surfaces. “Rough” concrete with traces of formwork looks especially impressive. To create a special loft atmosphere, one or two untreated walls in the interior are enough.

Accent walls and black and white panels

In the photo: Bedroom with loft elements in the apartment

Black and white panels leaning against the wall will create the effect of "creative chaos" that often reigns in the artist's studio. Black monochrome walls and wooden panels complement the democratic and modern decor of the bedroom.

Brickwork painted white

In the photo: Bedroom interior with brickwork and posters

A spectacular technique for decorating a loft-style bedroom will be walls lined with brickwork and painted white. The more careless the paint, the better. Small chips, cracks and unpainted sections of the wall are the main highlight of such an interior.

Gray-beige gamma

In the photo: Beige and gray loft-style bedroom

The natural gray-beige scale is especially suitable for the design of a loft-style bedroom, since the brightness of the stylistic direction itself needs to be “muted” a little. Pastel and neutral tones will make a brutal interior with brickwork softer and more harmonious.

There are many projects in the loft style in the portfolio of the Fundament Group of Companies, and this is no coincidence: this design direction remains at the peak of popularity, experiencing a new birth. The specialists of the design studio will develop a unique interior design project, taking into account the characteristics of your apartment, and the repair and construction teams will carry out high-quality renovation of the apartment at the highest level.

AT modern world loft style is very popular because it is the most versatile. It blends perfectly with the rhythm of life of modern people, is very unusual.

It is important to know how to properly design an apartment in a loft style.

Peculiarities

A loft-style apartment is characterized by the presence a large number free space. There should be no unnecessary boundaries in the room. The interior design itself should be simple. Zoning in studios in this case is carried out without the use of screens and sliding doors, for separation, a change of textures, materials and colors is used.

Loft is translated from English as an attic. Thus, he is distinguished by a certain negligence, even sloppiness. The loft style appeared after workshops and storage rooms, including attic or mansard ones, began to be converted into living rooms. Completely deserted rooms filled with life, and at the same time they became unusual in design.

The loft style involves the use of fairly simple furniture, which is highly functional. When choosing a color scheme, cold tones are most often preferred, which is the main feature of this style. Decorative elements in the interior design in this style are practically absent. As a rule, all passages expand, all boundaries are erased.

The same applies to windows: they try to make as many as possible, so more light enters the room, and it becomes spacious. In such rooms, they try to emphasize the negligence of the design of the walls. At first glance, when the room is not yet furnished with furniture and other interior items, it may even seem that the renovation has not been completed. However, this is not true.

This style involves focusing on unfinished brickwork, on accentuated open pipes and other communications, as well as on the roughness of gray plaster. As a rule, in the loft style they decorate the premises of studio apartments or spacious rooms. The style does not use the division into functional areas and rooms, especially pronounced.

If you have a studio apartment, then the peculiarity of the loft-style interior is that all of it will be open, only the sleeping area can be hidden from prying eyes. There are no sharp transitions and barriers in this style. Large interior items are not typical here.

The largest piece of furniture can be a sofa, and it is often placed in the center of the room.

Loft-style studio apartments are designed with tall furniture. Models with chrome legs are welcome. The use of bar counters and cast iron stoves is very popular. As for the materials that are chosen for such premises, most often it is glass, metal. The tree is much rarer.

Furniture has minimalistic design, as well as some mirror elements. When arranging an apartment in this style, you need to try to bring as much space as possible into the rooms and expand the premises, erase all boundaries. Another characteristic feature of the loft style is the grouping and mixing of various architectural trends. In addition, these apartments are characterized by very high ceilings, you can even leave the ceiling frame open.

If, nevertheless, it is decided to make some partitions, then it is better that they are translucent. For decoration, you can use only thematic images and unusual bright posters. Inscriptions and abstract patterns will look interesting on the walls. Such industrial features look harmonious and fashionable. The ladder, if it is inside the house or apartment, must be metal.

All walls are often done in one color scheme. If you want to experiment with surface finishes, then it is better to choose the floor or ceilings as an accent. Most of all, the apartment should have gray tones. An important feature of the loft style is that very little financial resources are required to finish such a room, because concrete or brickwork are the most affordable options.

In general, the loft style is a special and unique option that is perfect for for creative and extraordinary personalities. When decorating the interior, you can carry out the most unusual experiments and actively use your imagination, while the possibilities will not be limited.

The more unusual and strange the arrangement of the room, the more pronounced the direction of the loft will be.

Dimensions

As for the footage of an apartment for a loft, it can be varied. However, one-room spacious rooms are more suitable for this direction. A small 1-room typical studio apartment is an excellent solution for this style, its dimensions can be 40, 42, 45 square meters. m. More spacious one-bedroom apartments of 50 sq. m. m or 55 sq. m (standard "Khrushchev"), as well as three-room houses can also be decorated in the loft style.

Pay attention to the height of the ceilings: in more modern studio apartments, the ceilings are high, but in the "Khrushchev" they are about 2.5 meters. With high ceilings and a small area, you can use attic-type furniture, which is located at a level of 180 cm above the floor. Some storage systems can also be placed at a height of two meters.

Two-level large or small apartment can also be decorated in a loft style. Attic apartments are perfect for this area. On the second floor, you can equip a room that looks like an attic, but for residential purposes. The ladder should be small, metal. The area of the room is not the main thing, the most important thing is the layout. If possible, then you need to get rid of unnecessary partitions and walls and make the room more spacious, getting rid of the borders.

Colors

The color scheme of the loft is not as simple as it seems at first. There are no strict rules, but this style still limits the choice of colors. To make the room more spacious, it should be light, which is why rooms, especially small ones, are best decorated in light colors. You can even have one white wall as an accent wall.

Colors should be versatile and neutral. It is best to combine gray, white, milky shades. Burgundy is also acceptable, imitating brickwork, as well as beige, sand, gray-brown. If you want to bring comfort, then warm shades should be used in a small amount in a “cold” room.

You need to choose one dominant shade that will prevail in the interior, and select the rest based on it.

Bright colors can help set the accents, but in large quantities they are unacceptable for a loft, otherwise the interior will lose its uniqueness and feature, as elements of saturated color will overload the interior. It is better if brick shades dominate the interior: they are brighter than taupe, but they match the style.

Red and woody tones are also acceptable. You can choose other colors, but not all of them can fit into such an interior. You can dilute these rather boring nuances with wine, chocolate, dark blue, terracotta flowers in small quantities.

materials

For the decoration of such premises, natural materials are mainly chosen: brick, concrete or natural wood. Glass and some metal elements are perfect for finishing. So, a brick wall goes well with a wooden window frame, and concrete walls are in perfect harmony with metal-plastic windows. As for the materials for the floor, they can also be varied. For this, both a natural board and a laminate are suitable. It is better if coatings of cold shades are used. Parquet board is also considered acceptable.

The simplest option is the floor of cement screed. Some use self-leveling floors or simply lay the usual glossy ceramic tiles. To finish the ceilings, they use whitewash or paint it white or gray, so the room becomes visually higher. In the loft style, the ceiling and floor are usually left rough. For decoration additionally used a natural stone and crystal, these elements may be present in the design of lighting sources. No less popular are leather and suede, as well as natural fur. All these environmentally friendly materials fit perfectly into this style.

It is better to completely refuse plastic and vinyl but they can be used in small quantities. They can imitate natural coatings from wood or stone. It is better if all surfaces are roughly processed, this is especially true for wooden planks floor and some large furniture. Metal objects should have a matte or glossy sheen, such a shimmer will perfectly complement this style. For decoration, you can use materials such as chenille and leatherette.

In no case should velvet elements be used.

Interior decoration

Interior decoration in a loft style from the inside suggests that the owner of an apartment or house should get rid of unnecessary partitions, built-in wardrobes and closets. Mezzanines are also inappropriate and clutter up the room. Also, if possible, you need to increase the size of the windows or their number. It is better to install shelves in an open type, try to place as few decorative elements and accessories on them as possible, leaving only the necessary things.

For interior decoration of rooms and window framing it is better not to use curtains and curtains. Windows should be fully open and free to allow more light in. If you don’t like open windows, then you need to broadcast not standard curtains, but horizontal blinds: during the day they are fully understood, and at night they are lowered to close from the light.

When arranging an apartment from the inside, it is better to arrange furniture not at the edges of the room, as is usually done, but as if scattered. It should not be adjacent to walls and other surfaces. If you want to place large furniture around the perimeter (for example, a sofa), then it should be located no closer than 30 cm to the wall surface. At interior decoration best kitchens to use noticeable hoods and outlet pipes.

Explicit and specially emphasized communications are the main characteristic feature of the loft style. So, it is better to dismantle pipes, as well as metal ceilings. Some even strive to keep the ventilation shafts and grilles, beams, and some rusty elements. Thus, additional finishing is practically not necessary. In addition, when finishing, you can release the cables and fix them on the surface of the walls - they will bring an interesting touch of negligence to this direction.

Ceiling

Ceilings are best done in plain white, but the use of wooden beams is more interesting. In addition, they can be decorated with hanging metal lamps (especially for small apartments). If the room is small, then the ceilings should be light, but if it is spacious, then darker options can be preferred.

You can decorate the ceiling with ordinary paint or whitewash.

Floor

For the loft style, a subfloor is perfect, but you can also choose imitations of stone and concrete. Unfinished wooden floors are very popular. Tiles and porcelain stoneware are often used to decorate floors, as these glossy surfaces perfect for loft style. Tiles should not have patterned patterns, but only natural images and textures. It is acceptable to use a black and white mosaic, but it also should not be built into a regular geometric pattern.

Walls

If the house is brick, then it is better to use rough brick walls for decoration. If this is not possible, then you can additionally make brickwork on one wall. In addition, it is better to lighten the seams between the bricks in order to highlight each structural element brighter. You can use plaster to finish the walls. Loft style does not allow finishing.

The surface should be rough and create a feeling of unfinished. If you want to do not too dark room, then you can mix white and gray cement and highlight one wall with them, and paint the rest in a darker color.

In the living room, at least one wall must be completely unfinished, it is better to return the original appearance. Other walls can be covered with plaster. If you want to make the walls of the room with wooden decorative design, then preference should be given to plastic panels with imitation of a wooden texture, however, this material should be used in minimal quantities. Walls can have fabric and leather decorative inserts.

Furniture

The choice of furniture for the loft style should be taken more seriously. It is better if it is medium-sized and at the same time as functional as possible. It should not clutter up the room. In addition, there should be some large pieces of furniture in the room. All products should be simple in design.

First of all, you need to decide on a sleeping place, especially in a studio apartment. A classic low bed, an ottoman or a small sofa is perfect for this. Sofas and armchairs are better to buy leather, with a rough texture. Bedroom furniture can be placed on the podium, which is often equipped with additional storage boxes. When choosing small pieces of furniture it is better to give preference to transformers.

So, folding chairs, stools, transforming tables for computers are perfect.

It is better if the furniture has wheels so that it can be rearranged at any time if it gets in the way. Small poufs can be used as seating. For storage, it is better to give preference to furniture with through racks, shelving, open shelves. In order to place clothes, you can pick up a comfortable and spacious wardrobe with a mirror surface.

As for the arrangement of the kitchen, it is better to replace the dining table with a bar counter. This solution is the most stylish and functional. In addition, the bar counter takes up less space. For her, you can buy stylish bar stools that can be placed under the countertop at any time. The bar counter allows you to solve the problem of zoning and saves space in the room.

Better if the furniture is not quite standard. Aged and vintage items are perfect. Try to group furniture in such a way as to divide spacious loft-style rooms into zones, so it will be easier to get rid of many partitions. If you decide to opt for a classic table design, then it is better to choose models with a wooden top and a metal base. Chairs can also have a metal frame. Models with chrome legs and folding designs are popular.

For storage, you can use small bedside tables and chests of drawers. In the bathroom, it is better to place metal and glass furniture elements. So, for a sink or bathtub, a material such as stainless steel is perfect. Plumbing must be as simple as possible and not very modern. The kitchen set can be completely wooden or have metal surfaces.

Luxury, pomposity, as well as an abundance of decor in the interior were replaced by modern styles, which sometimes use unusual techniques and elements as means of expression. It would seem, what kind of comfort can we talk about in a space of bare brick walls, wires or crossbars? But it is not in vain that the design of a loft-style apartment continues to gain popularity, proving its diversity and variability. The projects we have selected are proof of that!

1. The interior of a two-story loft-style apartment

This apartment has two floors and three rooms. I can’t even believe that it is intended for the bachelor life of a bank employee who, after hours, wants to relax and feel freedom. The classic loft, born from these principles, is ideal for creating the right atmosphere.

The project, located in the Zapadnoye Kuntsevo residential complex, was carried out by designers from the E-l-ement studio. The area of the apartment is not so big - 84 sq.m., but the height of the ceilings, which varies from 2.5 to 5 meters, allowed the authors to implement several interesting solutions in the interior.

As befits a loft, the layout is open, including a combined living room, kitchen, dining room. The presence of high ceilings prompted designers to create a second floor, which helped to isolate the sleeping place from other areas without losing the feeling of spaciousness. A wooden curved staircase leads to this level.

Brickwork is used as decoration, which is balanced by white panels. The interior looks quite cozy, mainly due to the abundance of wooden elements.

2. Loft-style apartment for a young couple

The owners of this apartment initially knew that the loft style would be perfect for their personal space, only in a special interpretation. Designers from the JuicyHall studio had to carefully listen to the wishes of the young couple. The result is a project with a unique aesthetic, which once again proves the importance of complete trust between the contractor and the customer.

The Moscow apartment has a small area - 45 sq.m., but it turned out that with right approach and this is quite enough for a comfortable life. Moreover, the original layout led to the introduction of an unusual idea - to integrate the bathroom into the open space of the studio, which is common in the interiors of modern hotels.

Initially, the designers proposed to dwell on the classic interpretation of the loft, leaving the concrete ceilings, as well as aging the brickwork of the walls. But clients insisted on a more decorative approach. As a result, the walls turned out to be white, and concrete was used to decorate the ceiling. So small-sized apartments were filled with air and space, acquiring a neat look.

Housing was created on the principle of functionality and includes the following areas: a kitchen, a bedroom separated from it by a wall, a living room, a dressing room, a bathroom, an entrance hall. The sofa serves as a partition between the two areas.

In the course of the repair, it was necessary to solve small, and sometimes large problems. For example, when brought kitchen set, it turned out that due to the oversight of the foreman, it simply did not fit the size of the space. But the designers were not at a loss and offered to make brick semi-columns by laying an I-beam on them. It turned out even better than planned.

3. Interior design of a loft-style apartment, Moscow

Many people think that a loft is brutality and audacity, but the Verdiz design studio, with the help of just one project, showed the variability of solutions while maintaining key features. The interior turned out to be very bright, elegant, even noble, and all this on 50 sq.m.!

For the rational organization of a small space, the bathroom was reduced, thanks to which it was possible to place a large closet with a stunning stained-glass facade in the corridor. This is a multifunctional piece of furniture that further separates the entrance hall from the living area.

The apartments consist of one room, which, thanks to the principle of zoning, has a living room and a bedroom. The layout of the kitchen has a slightly rounded geometry. Almost all the walls that serve as a support for compact furniture are involved here.

The unobtrusive interweaving of another style, fusion, helped to “soften” the loft, which was embodied in bright decor elements that enliven the whiteness of the brickwork, as well as the grayness of concrete. At the same time, there was a place for art objects that convey a sense of modern classics.

4. Apartment design in loft style, Magnitogorsk

The author of the project, Anton Sukharev, claims that this is the rare case when the interior reflects the interests of the owner, embodied in small details. And although the designer had to work on a modest budget, the result looks modern and stylish. It was the loft that helped create the right feeling with limited finances.

Apartment with an area of 72 sq.m. designed according to the principle of open space. Hallway separated from living room wooden structure serving as ample storage space. LED strips in silicone boxes are built under the plywood block on the ceiling, where all the transformers are also hidden. A decorative partition separates the kitchen from the living area without obstructing the free flow of light.

The brickwork discovered during the renovation was painted white. We also managed to save money on the heating system, which was not changed, as it fit perfectly into the style of the loft. Almost all furniture is made to order, has its own history: some item was created “bit by bit”, the other was bought at a flea market at a profit.

5. Loft-style apartment for a young couple, Tyumen

The interior of this multi-level apartment was designed by designer Ekaterina Skorokhodova, who managed to create a dream home for a creative couple. The high ceilings helped add to the 90 sq.m. space additional 14 sq.m.

The only obstacle to the implementation of the loft style was the lack of beautiful, open brickwork, but it was possible to imitate it with the help of high-quality decorative tiles. Other walls are painted white, against which paintings and other decorative elements look good. Bright accent- a large Indian panel, the shades of which set color scheme space.

A massive heating system is usually used to heat such a large area, but the designer chose compact metal convectors, which became an interior decoration. But the main “attraction” of the apartment is considered to be high windows that offer a beautiful view of the city and let in the necessary amount of light.

In order to preserve the feeling of spaciousness that the apartments are endowed with, it was decided to opt for a functional headset. So, kitchen cabinets are installed in two rows, the top of which is used to store non-essential items.

The sliding barn doors in the kitchen area, which were used instead of the usual ones, look unusual. Behind them is a guest room with a utility room. In general, the interior looks luxurious and even fabulous, conveying the atmosphere of ancient castles.

6. Authentic loft with French charm

This apartment was designed by the owner himself, Gregory Lesterlen, a French businessman who spends a lot of time in Russia. Possessing good taste and solid travel experience, the owner was able to design the interior according to his requirements, filling the atmosphere of the USSR times with unique items from Paris itself.

The layout of the 69-meter apartment was changed almost completely, destroying all possible walls. During the repair, it was discovered that the brickwork, which dates from the beginning of the 20th century, was preserved in good condition, which prompted Gregory to introduce loft elements.

The apartments have a bedroom, a separate bathroom, a dressing room, an open living room with an office, as well as a kitchen, which includes an unusual bar counter in a niche. Discovered antique wooden beams not thrown away, but used as a decor for the ceiling.

The result is an atmospheric apartment with history, which the owner has preserved and updated.

7. Loft-style apartment design, 225 m2

In this interior, the designers from MKInterio managed to move away from the usual interpretation of the loft and create a gentle, calm design, since there is plenty of space for the realization of any ideas.

It was decided to leave the enfilade layout of the interior: the entrance hall is followed by the kitchen, after which comes the living room, and then private areas with bathrooms. This allows you to diversify the design of the apartment, adding new features to each room.

The kitchen is decorated with plywood structures that stand out against the brickwork with light textures and color. The metal beams were left unchanged, having built a soundproof system between them.

Decorative green shutters accentuate the tall windows. To visually increase the space of the bedroom, long mirrors were placed on one of the walls. Despite the fact that the palette of the apartment is a bit muted, the interior looks light and spacious.

8. Three-room loft-style apartment

The apartment of the 1970s went to customers with all the disadvantages in planning typical for the construction of those years: a small kitchen, a separate bathroom, and an impractical corridor. So the designers from the Odnushechka bureau had to solve these problems along with the design.

From big corridor there was a small hallway, and the rest square meters"joined" the living room space. Brickwork under the plaster, necessary for the style, turned out to be unaesthetic, so I had to resort to imitation, using clay tiles as a finish. The loft feel was enhanced by the introduction of textured furniture, such as a worn leather sofa, metal shelving, antique wood items. The sofa and dining areas are separated by a mirrored partition.

The kitchen was left the same size, attached to the common space and equipped with functional furniture. Bright colors were added to the nursery, while retaining the loft features with a modular suite and a dark wooden floor. The master bedroom was designed in the same way, adding a painted brick wall.
